“On February 23, I was at work. I am a dance coach. We came home from classes late at night and went to bed. At 5:30 in the morning, my eldest son called me and said that the war had started. We are from Khmelnytskyi. We haven’t had a bombardment yet. As a result, I cancelled all dance classes on February 24.

I left the house after dinner only to buy groceries and withdraw money. And there was no one. There was no queue at the ATM either. I started preparing the basement. I started getting calls from dance coaches from different regions, and at that time no one was going anywhere. I started doing online classes because all the halls were used for the needs of the teroborona (the Territorial Defense Forces). We went to our dacha (country house) because sirens started in the city.

My parents took up volunteering, delivering warm things to schools and to the front. We also carried food, wove nets for the military. We were looking for places where we could go to earn money, so that the summer did not pass just like that.

We left Khmelnytskyi by car (via Budapest) and then went to Croatia.

We arrived in Hvar on May 1. I found a job through acquaintances at a travel agency.

My daughter went to school. Croatian people and children have been very tolerant and calm. All excursions for our children were free. Here, I got to know the dance coaches, and I was pleasantly surprised that there are wonderful halls and the level of teaching is high. I really want to train children, maybe open my own gym. School starts on September 5, and I want to find a way to conduct dance classes for the children.”
